A lyrical prayer for hope and freedom, WONDER WHY is here to celebrate all the single mums, and to hold space for the heroes in our lives who have our backs – no matter what.

My name’s Romina I’m a mum of 3
I ain’t got a baby father here to comfort me
It’s up to me to feed my baby when she hungry
And I don’t feel supported by my government or country
I’ve been in lockdown for a year, wow
And little Isla’s autism’s pretty clear now
Like when she hears sounds that’ll appear loud
She covers her ears until the volume steers down
And That is something that I stress about daily
You know when all you wanna do it better your baby
But the worlds in a panic and everything is crazy
It takes me time to fathom all of it lately
And maybe one day we’ll be free
I burn sage in the dark trying to heal these streets
I send prayers out to universally speak
To all my people inadvertently hurting so deep
Cause this one’s for the single mums

I see my baby though and she needs me
We snuggle up in the morning and watch CBeebies
See my other two babies are so grown now
That if I didn’t have Isla I’d be alone now
And gratitude isn’t something you’re something shown how
It’s something in your possession you should expose now
I learnt that this year and it’s so true
So if you’re stuck at a hurdle and can’t move
Remember to stand strong and the wind will embark you
I wrote my own history, they ain’t hindering our truth
